About Texas Lutheran University

Texas Lutheran University, or TLU, is an undergraduate, private, coeducational university located in Seguin, which is a city in Texas state, USA, in Guadalupe County (serving as its county seat), with a population of over 26 800, as estimated during the 2009 census.

TLU was established in 1891 as an academy of the First German Evangelical Lutheran Synod in Texas, and was originally located in Brenham, moving to its present location, in 1912, its current name being adopted in 1996.

Today, the university remains affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and offers its students a number of 26 majors, 32 minors, and 13 pre-professional programs.

Athletics

Texas Lutheran's athletic teams are nicknamed the Bulldogs and they compete in NCAA Division III and the American Southwest Conference, in various sports, for both men and women. Their distinctive colors are black and gold.
